Environmental Allergies?

Sneezing? Itchy skin? Chronic Fatigue? Trouble breathing? Brain Fog?  Every year, over 30 million Americans are affected by allergies. The problem is, you could be allergic to any number of things indoors and outdoors: dust, pollen, ragweed, pets, plant/molds, pests, etc.

Method and Treatment

In partnership with Elite Allergy Services, testing and treatment is offered in our office using the same criteria set forth by the AAAI (American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology) and the AAOA (American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy) associations using the prick/puncture (diluted allergen is applied using a small, disposable plastic device to prick the the surface of the skin), or the intradermal (diluted allergen injected just below the surface of the skin) method. Results are available immediately after testing and treatment options, including immunotherapy (allergy shots) can be planned.

Are Foods the Problem?

Adverse food reactions can make you feel sick and lead to chronic illnesses. Often it is unknown exactly which food(s) may be the cause.  Testing for the presence of IgG antibodies is useful for individuals who suspect that a food is responsible for causing their symptoms, but can’t quite identify which food(s).  The presence of circulating IgG antibodies to foods may also be suggestive of increased intestinal permeability, also referred to as “leaky gut syndrome.” When the tight junctions forming the barrier in the gut don’t work properly, larger substances can “leak” through, causing an immune response.

Method and Treatment

Partnering with Genova Diagnostics we can customize a diet for you, by performing a simple blood test in the office, rather than relying on generalized diet recommendations, or restricting foods unnecessarily.  Within in 1-2 weeks, you will be provided with an eating plan based on your results whereby foods that are suspected of causing adverse reactions are temporarily removed from your diet. These foods are then carefully reintroduced at a later date. Elimination diets can pinpoint symptom-triggering foods that may cause or worsen chronic health issues you may be experiencing.   Symptom improvement is usually noticed within 2-4 weeks.

Allergens

Dust particles in the air, pollen, animal dander, food, medications, latex, and more all have microscopic components that are a trigger for symptoms in some people. We run a series of tests to determine what is causing your allergy symptoms. You may be allergic to something you never expected, like bees!

Allergies have been known to develop later in life in some cases, and some may even go away over time. It’s important to note that you cannot cure allergies. Odds are, your allergies will last a lifetime. However, that doesn’t mean you cannot manage their symptoms and get back your daily routine. Being aware is the first step to confronting the problem head-on. We provide treatment options for patients with allergy symptoms of any kind!

Allergy Testing/Treatment Hours*

Allergy Awareness Can Save Lives

Discovering your body’s reaction to potential allergens can help save you and your child’s life. Some patients find they’re deathly allergic to nuts or ants and should carry an EpiPen in case of emergencies. But not all allergies are that severe. In fact, most allergies produce symptoms—such as sneezing, that are merely uncomfortable. The solution could be as simple as taking allergy medication, but the only way to be sure is to get tested if you believe your symptoms are worsening.
